Schumer joined General Motors leadership and local UAW workers in making a major announcement on the future of the General Motors Components Manufacturing Plant in Lockport, NY. General Motors will spend about $154 million to revamp its Lockport factory so it can make a key part for electric vehicle motors.
The automaker says it will add about 230 jobs at the factory to build stator modules, the part that creates a magnetic field to turn the motor. The part will go into motors for new electric trucks and SUVs.
